HUNGER RELIEF

Hunger isn’t seasonal, which is why our year round campaign to feed the “Hidden Hungry” starts with you.  Volunteer for an afternoon and see first-hand the seniors we help daily.

For over 30 years, we’ve lent a hand to thousands of Denver-area seniors living below the poverty line and are faced with an emergency. Our work helps our clients remain self-sufficient and independent, live with dignity and pride, and ensure that no senior is without necessities like food.

We distribute food each Thursday at our office to our seniors.  In January 2014 we initiated a Mobile Food Bank to serve the need of our seniors that live in affordable housing complexes.

The Senior Assistance Center is an authorized agency to complete the certification and distribution of the Food Bank of the Rockies Commodity Supplemental Food Program.

We participate in the Meals on Wheels Delivery program.  Our volunteers pick up meals from Volunteers of America and delivers the meals to our homebound senior clients.

Hunger Relief

Hunger relief starts each Thursday at our onsite food bank between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.  The Senior Assistance Center distributes a selection of food containing such items as dairy products, pasta, meat/poultry, fruit, vegetables, ready to eat cereal, dry beans, and rice. All provided at no cost to our Senior clients.

Mobile Food Bank

The need continues to grow as we see more and more seniors facing financial, and health hardships.   On January 1, 2014  we started a mobile food bank to transport food to seniors who live in affordable senior housing complexes in the Denver-Metro area.  We bring food to seniors who have no way to access our Food Bank at our office.
